Supporting Student Success (S3)

Supporting Student Success (S3), formerly called the Community in Schools program, is a special initiative provided by the Heart of Illinois United Way to Central Illinois schools.

S3 offers local students, and their families, in-school social services focused on prevention, intervention and case management. In collaboration with the Heart of Illinois United Way partner agencies, these services work in tandem with educators and administrators to ensure a student's success in school.

For the 2016-2017 school year, the Heart of Illinois United Way has granted more than $186,000 to implement the S3 initiative in 20 early childhood, primary and middle schools in Peoria and Tazewell counties. School districts receiving grants include:

  • Calvin Coolidge Middle School, Peoria Public Schools
  • Franklin Primary School, Peoria Public Schools
  • Glen Oak Learning Center, Peoria Public Schools
  • Harrison Learning Center, Peoria Public Schools
  • LaSalle Elementary, Creve Coeur School District 76
  • Lincoln K-8, Peoria Public Schools
  • Lindbergh Middle School, Peoria Public Schools
  • Mark Bills Middle School, Peoria Public Schools
  • Parkview Middle School, Creve Coeur School District 76
  • Pleasant Hill Elementary School, District 69
  • Pleasant Valley Middle School, District #62
  • Quest Charter Academy, Peoria Public Schools
  • Richwoods High School, Peoria Public Schools
  • Rolling Acres Middle School, Peoria Public Schools
  • Roosevelt Magnet School, Peoria Public Schools
